Dive season is here — Bay of Islands weekends

Following on from the AGM at the end of July, the club calendar is updated with heaps of diving weekends up in the Bay of Islands for the coming dive season.

Dates are provisional and can be moved around to suit our members — if you're a busy shift worker available on a particular weekend with no dive in the calendar, get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

The first BoI boat dive is scheduled for Sat/Sun 19–20 September 2026. Thanks to El Nino, the sea surface temperature is still a balmy 16 degrees. Email us if you're keen.

Photo and Video Competition 2026

The Club Awards Night is provisionally set for 31 October 2026 in Whangarei. Glenn Moore (our newly elected Social Officer 🎉) will provide more details closer to the time — but block the date now, and start thinking about your Halloween sea-monster costume. 🎃

Before then, we need to find the winners of the Photograph and Video of the Year 2026 competition. The rules are simple:

• Photo or video must have been taken between July 2025 and June 2026 (inclusive)
• Must have been taken at a club event — this includes overseas club trips
• Send your photos, videos or video links (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) to the club before 20 September 2026

Entries will be consolidated and circulated around the membership for voting.

Spring diving

It's spring and the days are getting longer. The weather is pleasant and, thanks to El Nino, the water is still relatively warm. We've got some great dives planned for spring, so check out the club calendar for our upcoming dive dates and book yourselves a spot on the boat.

AGM 2025/26

The Annual General Meeting took place on Saturday 25 July 2026 in Kerikeri.

We elected the new committee, welcoming Glenn Smith as Chairperson and Glenn Moore as Social Officer.

Congratulations to our award winners: Club Member of the Year was awarded posthumously to Nick van der Walt, Wettest Diver Cheryll Magee, Trainee of the Year Joshua Barratt, Drill Sergeant Jacqui Robson, Expeditionist Cheryll Magee, and Rusty Anchor Andy Thomas. Photograph and Video of the Year have yet to be determined — until then, Erica's winning photo and Jacqui's winning video from last year remain up to admire.
